STEP DATA MANAGEMENT 
Managing Master Data throughout the Information Life Cycle.

WHAT IS STEP?

STEP is a Multidomain Master Data Management platform that integrates multiple disparate systems in your company by streamlining the process of aggregating and consolidating information around your products, customers, suppliers, employees, assets, location and reference data from multiple sources and formats, connecting that information to derive actionable insights, and publishing that information to backend systems and/or to online and offline channels.

This enterprise capable platform provides a common set of functionality allowing you to work from one, seamless platform which makes your work more predictable, significantly lowering costs and gives you quicker time-to-value when implementing and maintaining a master data project.

This course is targeted towards application consultants or other roles responsible for transforming the conceptual design of a STEP solution into a functional configuration.


Prerequisites

Stibo Systems Academy Courses (or the knowledge taught in this course acquired in other ways) o STEP_101 - STEP Solution Fundamentals

o   STEP_240 - STEP Data Modelling

Some knowledge of XML and preferably knowledge of JavaScript will be helpful.

At least one year of application consultancy experience and/or system implementation.

Course Outline:

1 - Control data output for down-stream systems

Learning Objectives:

Perform configurations of output templates for products, assets and classification object types for the STEP XML, Advanced STEP XML output formats. Select object and event types.

Perform configuration of delivery plugin (OIEP) - server side delivery. List available options for delivery plugins OIEP.

Perform configuration of event trigger definitions (OIEP) object type, attributes and reference types.

Apply pre-scripted business rules for event filtering and derived events - OIEP. Apply Post-processor - Context Splitter for OIEP.

Recall available Post-processor options - OIEP.

Apply pre-scripted business action for pre-processor - OIEP.

Implement configuration of message batching - event delivery and processing in OIEP. Perform configuration of Asset Push Event Queue - for web image.

Perform configuration of "Asset Push Configurations" for pre-defined conversion options. Outline the purpose of the java side-car application for asset push.

Execute Manual Asset Push initiation.

Construct an image pipeline to re-size an existing image applicable for web use.

Perform configuration of export manager to export a product using Excel, STEP XML, Generic XML output formats. In accordance with pre-defined specification.

2 - Build configurations for import and validation of data from multiple sources

Learning Objectives:

Implement IIEP Receiver Plugins - Hot Folder Receiver.

Implement IIEP Receiver Plugins - Hot Folder Receiver Plugin. Explain how and where to configure IIEP Error reporter.
Schedule IIEP.

Perform configuration of IIEP background processes queue settings, transactional settings and retention period.

Apply the STEP Import Manger as processing engine. List available processing engines.

Implement configuration of STEP import manager, Excel, STEP XML, and Generic XML.

Implement configuration of STEP Import manager, Transformations, Look-up tables, concatenation.

Tell how Deleting attribute values and References / Links can be handled via the STEP Import manager.

List available import formats for the STEP import manager.

Apply pre-scripted business rules in STEP import manager to reject and transform imported data. Define the purpose of available options in Advanced settings in the STEP import manager.

3 - Explain life-cycle of an object in terms of versioning management, history and audit-control

Learning Objectives:

Explain Versioning, Deletion (Recycle bin) and Approval flow.

4 - Perform configuration of user access based on the business roles of the customer

Learning Objectives:

Construct dedicated action sets to specific pre-defined roles.

Establish User groups based on pre-determined roles and apply privileges including super users, end users and service users.

Add Users to user groups.

5 - Explain the ways how the data maintenance and data enrichment processes can be managed using manual or automated processes

Learning Objectives:

Outline where workflows or business rules can be applied to automate and control the data maintenance process.

6 - Explain options available for translation management

Learning Objectives:

Demonstrate Excel and online translation of product attribute data.

7 - Perform data maintenance configurations according to common practice

Learning Objectives:

Formulate and check unique key formulas based on pre-defined requirement. Perform activation and de-activation of unique keys.

8 – Explain options available for searching data and utilizing search results

Learning Objectives:

Demonstrate available search option in order to find specified object types, references and values and create collection from result.

Execute a bulk update of an attribute value based on search based collection including refresh / scheduling of collection.
